Plein aire painting summer of 2014

I've been trying to get outdoors more often and paint with the PAAC (Plein Aire Painters of Colorado) group......I'm always happy once I've made the effort to pack up my supplies and get out of my studio into the great unknown!!!!

Denver Urban Skyline

This is a painting I created recently that will hang in the new Exempla St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver once it's complete. Presently it is still under construction. This was an exciting project to work on through Nine dot Arts. I was honored when they commissioned me to begin work on this painting in late summer. I'll be anxious to see where it will hang in the hospital!!!

"Afternoon In LoHi"

This is a new piece that I created especially for a young couple that you see walking their dog in the painting.....it's in the Lower Highlands (LoHi) neighborhood of Denver, CO. It has been framed and delivered to their home near Cherry Creek. They love it and I am very proud!

About the gallery: Great Western Art Gallery is pleased to host an Art Show with Denver artists: Jessica Wicken, Marlene Feinholz, and Jeff Velarde. Their work will feature paintings inspired by city life, streets and architecture of Denver, New York City and San Francisco. They will be featured at the gallery through March 10, 2013. An opening reception with the artist will be held on Friday, February 8, from 5 pm – 8 pm at the gallery at 1455 Curtis Street in Downtown Denver. This event is free and open to the public.

Painting Delivered to New Home!!!!!

This commmissioned painting was delivered to its new home recently! What a joy that event was for me! The painting was created over the summer of 2012 (a very hot summer!)...and its new owners LOVE IT!!!!! There was a lot more detail to concern myself with than I expected...but the end result made me very happy!!

This commissioned portrait that I call "Embrace" was created as a birthday gift....my goal was to create a painting with feeling....maintaining the young innocence of the daughter hugging her mother.
