Getting out to paint in the snow is not something I would normally think as comfortable. However, when I was out with my artist-friend, Debbie McAllister, recently painting in City Park in the afternoon I actually was warm and cozy. It surprised me as I usually shy away from standing in one spot in the cool air. I had a great time and look forward to going out again soon.

Pathway Through the Snow - City Park Denver

"Taking a Peek"
I have created quite a few small pieces of the Blue Bear peeking into the Colorado Convention Center.....there are a couple of them available at Abend Gallery and Great Western Art on 14th and Curtis. This one is 18" x 24". I am fond of the statue because it was created by a LOCAL artist, Lawrence Argent. The name of the piece actually is "I See What You Mean". I like to call my interpretations "Taking a Peek" or "Just a Peek".........I like the humor of the statue.....it always cheers me to drive by and see it. This painting can be seen at Great Western Art, 1455 Curtis, Denver.

"17th Annual Holiday Minatures Show"
I am very pleased to be participating in Abend's annual Holiday miniature show. Opening night was busy even though it began snowing early on into the evening. One of my pieces sold before 7 p.m. which added to the evening for me (I've posted a photograph of the piece that sold. Its title is "Hail Progress VII"). You'll see the red dot with an empty nail in the photograph. The show will run through December 29th, 2260 East Colfax Ave in Denver. Drop in if you have a chance.....the show is full of a lot of exciting pieces.

"Fall Magic"
"Searching for Knowledge"
It does not seem possible that it's been two months since I last posted anything. I wish time would stop flying by so fast.
I participated in Denver's first annual High Plein Air Arts Festival by painting outdoors on location. Two of my paintings will be shown at the Colorado History Museum 1300 Broadway November 2 through the 24th. There will be a gala grand opening November 2nd 6-9pm. I will be showing two paintings that I painted near the new Denver Art Museum.

"Yes, Let's Meet at Camp 5"
I have been planning to create a body of work depicting people talking on the phone for more than 20 years. I have collected pictures of many people on the phone along the way (mostly family and friends) and recently I created my first one. I am very excited about following up with more.
This painting is of my step-father …… his finger to his temple is a familiar gesture….the suggestion of a map behind him tells just some of the story. He is a worldwide traveler and has a map in his dining room with red pins on all of the places he has visited in his lifetime. Camp 5 refers to an old logging camp at the base of Mt. Rainier where we spent many memorable weekends and summers as children. My “Dadio” built our cabin out of two loggers’ cabins placed together to form a T. The mountain was right outside of our living room window. He was the boss of the independent loggers for a large logging company. He taught us a lot about the forest and we all have great memories from those years. You can read more about the logging industry in the Pacific Northwest in a book he wrote called “Down The Hill” by Roy Stier (contact him personally for a copy at roy@roystier.biz ) “Yes, Let’s Meet at Camp 5” ………I’ll be there for sure!!!!!
